The Revenue Commissioners launced a new facility this week allowing eligible Mortgage holders apply for interest relief on-line through their website.

    New rules affecting mortgage interest relief mean that taxpayers must provide detailed information to allow Revenue determine if they are eligible for the tax relief.

    To apply, applicants will need their PPS Number and their spouse's PPS number, if applicable, along with details of their mortgage account.  They will also need their bank account details to facilitate payments into their account. 

    A video demonstration on Claiming MIR  is available giving tax payers an on-line demonstration on how to use the new service or alternatively you can follow a step-by-step guide on the Revenue website.
